2013 World all-around champion Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/Bannon’s Gymnastix, was in Raleigh and Winston-Salem, N.C., to promote the 2014 AT&T American Cup, scheduled for March 1 at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum Complex. She is one of three U.S. gymnasts who have accepted invitations to compete. 2012 Olympic team gold-medalist and 2013 World all-around silver-medalist Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max, and 2012 Olympian Sam Mikulak of Corona del Mar, Calif./University of Michigan are the other two U.S. participants. The AT&T American Cup is the USA’s most prestigious international invitational and is part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series.

While in North Carolina, Biles paid visits to the Team Attraction and Kidsport gymnastics clubs and the Hanes Mall, where Salem Gymnastics participated in a gymnastics demonstration. Biles also gave media interviews in both cities.

The AT&T American Cup field features eight women and eight men, who are among the best all-around gymnasts in the world. The international field and the second U.S. man will be announced in early 2014. The 2013 AT&T American Cup champions are Katelyn Ohashi of Allen, Texas/WOGA, and Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma). Biles was second in 2013.
